Well done mate! I assume that its the PD engine? Either way, the 1.9 diesels are absolute peaches.

Word of caution for the future, if you should go down the same path again, avoid the 2.0 PD diesels, particularly the BKP engine code as they are nothing short of a liability (more bugs than a wet tramp).

What about a 1.9 PD Turbo - they should be fairly common now as they've been used by everything from Golfs to Passats and even stuff like Fabias and Octavias - 250,000+ miles without much serious grief as long as the water pump and cambelt is done regularly enough. Came as 130bhp as stock, but no reason why it couldn't be mapped up to 170bhp if you wanted - tons of torque, so ideal for shifting your splitty and yet still should give you about 50 mpg?

You'd probably need a complete donor car so you can get the ECU as well to get the best out of the engine, but there is bound to be something knocking about fairly cheap nowadays.
