Hi folks. Over the past few months since we moved in, we`ve been busy trying to get the garden on the `go`. So far we`ve planted up some fruit trees at the end, and put in place 10 raised beds (for veg). Now the time has come to put up my 13`x 8` Alton cedar greenhouse which was left to me by my late father 20 years ago (it was delivered a few days before he died, so he never got to see it :( ), but it`s still in great condition due to the fact that it was kept in my old garage. I`d always hoped that one day I could one day put it to use, and that day is fast approaching ! I dug out the footings today, so hopefully soon I can lay the concrete, a bit hot at the mo ! Anyway, I`ll post some pics shortly to show my progress. Cheers...freddy.

I hope it goes well for you freddy. Your dad will be chuffed (I believe he will know) to see it getting used at last. Do send us all some pics. I'm getting jealous of all of your lovely greenhouses;)

Hi folks, thanks for those kind words, much appreciated. Tonight I started to lay the foundations for the perimeter of the greenhouse but ran out of materials, but less than a quarter still to do so shouldn`t take me long. Weather permitting I should have that finished this weekend and I`ll be able to get down to the interesting stuff ! Cheers...freddy.

Well folks, I`ve finished laying the concrete and guess what, I`ve just discovered that the greenhouse is in fact the 13x10 model !!!! OH DEAR !!! Gonna have to do some more laying of concrete methinks. The other problem is that it will only JUST fit in the garden which is 13ft wide. Ah well, these things happen ! Cheers...freddy.

Hi Helen. I guess it`s mixed blessings. Nice to have a large greenhouse but doesn`t leave a lot of space down the sides. One side will have to be against next door`s fence and the other side has just enough room to get a wheelbarrow down the side. Anyway, now I`ve got my head round it, I`m looking forward to that extra space :) Cheers...freddy.

Hi folks, just a little update. It seems that when the greenhouse was originally supplied, it was short of some base kerbs (4) and I`m now waiting for them to be delivered, £110 for 4 kerbs ! Ah well, I HAVE to have them. They tell me they`ll be delivered week commencing 9th June so hopefully I can get things moving again shortly. Cheers...freddy.

Hi folks. Well, at last I have been able to make some progress. The missing kerbs turned up midweek and after laying them in place on friday, me and Mrs freddy set to work today on erecting the greenhouse. Here`s a few pics to show the progress to date. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] Cheers...freddy.

Hi Kandy. Thanks for those kind words. As for someone helping me, you can see her right there (the mrs), what a gal eh ? :) Hi walnut. It LOOKS like it`s nearly there, but it`s all those fiddly bits that take the time, oh, and of course, replacing all the glass I broke :o . JWK, bigger than I expected ! More pics to follow. Cheers...freddy.
