I retired early due to my knees suffering plus i had the chance so i thought why not [IMG] I'm not a gardener (yet) but do like a nice garden, mum used to be a very keen gardener and maintained a green paradise.

Our outdoor space is sadly fairly small and all block paved but its all we have so will have to go with it. There are some gravel beds but as the garden is lined at the side by trees outside our boundary, the soil in these beds is 100% root bound so we gravvelled them over some years back.

I'm looking forward to getting some plants in once i figure out what, where and how it all works :)

Perhaps you might consider raised beds? Pictures below from internet.

hi everyone my husband and I have only ever had a lawn/washing line and a trampoline!
This year we decided we could finally get sound to having borders and plants.
We planted hollyhocks from small plug plants in early May and they are now almost 6ft tall and with buds, we read that they don’t flower the first year??? Does anyone know if that’s not always the case.

If they are 6 ft tall they will probably flower this year.
