I planning to go to New Zeland in january/February .......can anyone suggest me how to get a cheap ticket , do I need to apply for visa or can do over there and where`s the best stop over?
Sorry Sal I Carnt Help you!!!! But am Sooooo Jelious Post Card Please Shop Around on the Net for Your Ticket
The need for a visa depends on which country has supplied your passport. UK citizens don't need one. http://www.newzealand.com/int/visas-and-immigration/ Getting to NZ isn't cheap. It's going to cost you around £700 but this price can double if you want to make a number of stopovers (but it's a good way to see lots of places). I'd avoid a flight that refuels in the U.S. (most are at L.A.) as their immigration dept are horrendously slow and frustrating - even if you aren't leaving the transit lounge! If you intend to stay a few days at the refueling country then you have a number of choices (including the U.S.). For just a few days stopover Hong Kong or Singapore are pretty good although Singapore can be seen in less time than Hong Kong. Two full days should be sufficient - their public transport system is superb. Hong Kong's public transport is also good but I would suggest four days if possible. There are many other stopovers depending on airline, such as Fiji, Kuala Lumpur, Hawaii etc. Malaysian airways (stopover KL - worth a couple of days) used to be a good price but I don't know what they are like now. Of course, time of year and day of travel can affect price. Good luck
Oooh, lots of pictures please! I'd love to go to New Zealand (its on my list along with all the other pretty ones like Canada and Switzerland.
Shiney thank you so much , a stop over in Usa wouldn`t be bad , as I`m not really attracted but massive city , the cheappest ticket I`ve found so far is through China , wich I would love , but my miss just dasn`t want to . In case where can I get the best price? someone even told me to try travel agency raden the internet .
sal73 - my nephew did exactly that, a few years ago in a gap year. With his girlfriend they started off in China, continued to Australia and then Malaysia etc. If I find get any useful information i will keep you posted... PS do you hold an Italian passport?
My nephew hasnt actually been to New Zealand but still I got some suggestions: for passport requirements see: http://www.visabureau.com/newzealand/tourist-visa.aspx for tickets: opodo or expedia (you can get cheap tickets also a couple of weeks before the flight but depends where to) recommended stops: Singapore and Hong Kong recommended hotel in Hong Kong kowloon city: (reasonably priced if you book early) http://www.regalhotel.com/Regal-Oriental-Hotel/main/HOTEL-HOME.aspx recommended food: dumplings Now that I know that you are going there, if I read something interested I will post it.
Thank you much Miraflores , just had a quick look at opodo and it come out witha cheap price , problem it take 55 hr and 4 stops , I really have to try to convince my miss to go trough China , even if she dasn`t want to get any close there . expidia it`s really interesting as got many more option including LA. and San Francisco , but been advice to evoid both of them .
If you wish to speak to a travel agent instead of one of the on-line ones (you can actually get advice from them) I suggest that you try either a local one (just get quotes from them) or phone Trailfinders who have been voted the best travel agent by Which? Travel (Consumers Association) yet again this year. They're very knowledgable and helpful and don't charge any extra if you pay by credit card. Their phone number is on this page http://flights.trailfinders.com/ A popular way to tour NZ at a cheaper price is by campervan. You can hire them or do what a lot of people do - buy a secondhand one when you get there and sell it before you leave. http://blogs.nationalgeographic.com...el/2011/03/caravanning-kiwiland-blog-4nz.html It's usually a lot cheaper to fly into Auckland than any of the other airports but you can check on that. If you intend touring NZ, and have sufficient time to do it, I might be able to give you some hints on where to go (I can also help with Hong Kong, Singapore and some of the other stopovers). NZ is a great place to visit and has an enormously varied type of scenery from glaciers and mountains to almost tropical forest. If you like trying adventurous things you can do that as well. I could put up a few photos if you wish.
Thank you shiney , we have a place where to stay my girlfriend have and old auntie that she didn`t see for more then 15 years living there she will give us car and accomodation , so far been looking for tickets only , but very tempted to use British airways , direct fly to Sydney and then Auckland ..........but very tempted to book the 55 hrs trip ......london to toronto , toronto to san francisco , san francisco to brisbane , brisbane to Auckland ......way back , Auckland to brisbane , brisbane to La , L.a. to Dubai , bubai london .....
If you're doing that journey in 55 hours you won't be getting any stopover but you will be getting very tired. Unless you're used to flying longhaul (or quite young) it will wipe you out for a couple of days (at least) so will shorten the available time when you're out there. In effect, you will lose four days going out and two days coming home - plus being shattered when you get home. Even if you're young and fit, jet lag on top of 55 hours of flying is no joke . I never get jet lag (don't sleep more than 3 hours every 24 hours so my internal time clock doesn't get messed up) but I wouldn't want to do a 55 hour journey. How much will it save in cost?
Thank you Shiney , I was sargastic about that , my actually preference at the moment it`s BA with a direct fly to Australia then NZ , but it would have been really interesting to do USA as my other Half has never been there. the 55 hr tickets was more of 31 hrs fly and all the rest was waiting time in airport .
Sal, you need to be aware that a 'direct' flight doesn't mean that you go from A - B without stopping. It means that you are on more than one flight with the same flight number and not even necessarily on the same plane. A non-stop flight is exactly what it says and goes directly from A - B. There are no non-stop flights to Australia so your plane will touch down at least once. This may just be just for refuelling. With BA their 'direct' flight usually spends just over two hours at Changi (Singapore) to refuel. If you can get a good price for a stopover flight you might prefer that. It breaks the flying time in two and gives you a chance to see Singapore (they also do Hong Kong). Singapore Airlines might give you a good deal on stop over flights.
I was just wondering how they do it , without refilling ......Thank you so much , Money wise , the difference would be just £100 from a different company , but at this point would really love to have 2 days stop over and visit a diffeent place .
