The lad knows that santa is bringing him a scooter for christmas (among other things). He knows this because he was with me at the car boot sale when we saw a shabby scooter for £2. That scooter got sent off to santa to be done up.

So tonight, santa had to wait til the lad was asleep before extracting hidden scooter, stripping it down, sanding it, and I (I mean santa) have been outside most of tonight spray painting the various components of this scooter.

I've still not finished. You can't rush these things. Spray paint needs to go on in very thin layers otherwise it just peels off.

Thankfully this santa has nearly finished the spray paint job, all the plastic bits scrubbed clean, bearings greased up. Just one more coat on the frame and its reassembly time.

Disaster of all disasters. In my haste to finish, I started reassembly before the pain was properly dry, and a piece has peeled off. Back outside again.

All done now. Pics aren't great, but its quite a transformation really.

Before. All stickers peeling off, rust blemishes and flaking paint (although hard to see in this pic)

After. The lad requested the colours (he specifically said, green on top, blue on the bottom. I chose silver for the forks, thinking it would add a bit of variety.
