After four years of putting up with using a plank to get to the door, I decided that I had better start the job that I have been dreading!
Dreading because there are three conflicting levels, air bricks that could not be covered, a bloody great gas box in the way and a gas cock that has been put in an equally stupid place.

There is still obviously more to do, but the result was not as I had thought that it would be, and I even found a place for the next EddieJ piece of oak.

Excluding the bricks, blocks and sand, I used two cubic metres of ballast for the concrete, one cubic metre of 20mm shingle, and two sheets of merchant size reinforcing mesh. It's very OTT in construction, but I only like to do things once.:blue thumb:

Edit... And yes there is a reason why the lower step has three bricks compared to the step above which has two. I still need to change some levels which will then bring the steps back to a 6" rise with an optimum going of 15"
