I was out today, with the camera, visiting some of the Cheshire Meres of which there are quite a few around me. There were quite a lot of people around and I was trying to find a quiet spot to take a few peaceful shots. Having found what I thought was a quiet place on the bank I put the camera on a tripod and starting taking pics when there was a whoop and a splash as a boy around the age of 7 and his dog shot past me to run on the "grass"....which wasn't grass.

The lad was in up to his waist before he realised it wasn't what he thought it was!! His mother was shrieking like a Banshee while I got two boot full's of weed, mud and water getting him out. The dog ended up a lovely green colour but seem happy enough. Anyway, I handed him over to his mother and she marched off to, I suppose, the car without even an apology or a thank you....the dog gave me a lick though before he followed them. Luckily for me I always carry a spare pair of trousers, socks and shoes in the car after getting wet on previous expeditions. I think next time I'll make sure there's definitely no one around when I start taking pics.:snork:

A good shot there Armandii. :dbgrtmb: It's a shame you didn't have time to turn the camera on the lad and dog. :heehee:

To be honest, Sheal, I was tempted, but he was crying his heart out while his mother was haranguing him plus I had two boot full's out water and I was wet up to the knees:heehee:

Well, if he's learnt anything, Joolz, it's to check it's grass before he runs on it!!:snork:

I do hate duck weed thou it can look like a blanket of grass but people and parents(taking kids & pets out) should be aware of the dangers of it x

Another sort of fishing and you would probably have had wading boots with you. At least the water wasn't too deep for you or him. :)

Well, this particular Mere has a good twenty yards of it in places before you get to the waters edge, Joolz. I don't suppose he or his dog was the first to find out the hard way:biggrin:
I've got to go back there as some of the shots weren't taken in the settings of the camera as I though they were. Some of the pics take around 6 or 7 different settings on the camera to get it to function in the mode you want it to...especially if you're not using standard Pentax Lens, and I obviously suffered from "finger trouble" which I didn't find out about until I checked on the computer.:wallbanging::gaah::snork:

Well, I can only suggest you over plant the pond with marginals, Joolz, like I have mine so that the nutrients get taken out.

Yes, I suppose it could be dangerous if you're not aware of what it is. Luckily for the lad, and me:heehee:, the water wasn't as deep as it could easily have been.:snork:

                    Great photo, Arm! :dbgrtmb:

Thank goodness you were there: right place right time. Try not to be too harsh on the mother, she had quite a shock and if manners do not come as second nature .... :dunno:

Now, I was brought up so well mannered, I'm even polite when I tell Mr Mum off: "PLEASE don't do that!" :nonofinger: See? Second nature :heehee:
