    Hi, Roders! Were these covered in water when you took the pic? They look like sea anemones waiting for the next tide so they can put their tentacles out and feed. Not sure what species - the most common one in UK waters is the beadlet anemone, I think, but not knowing how big these were it's hard to have even an educated guess!!

    Look like anemones to me too, must be the same one I saw last ocober, just moved along the coast a bit. [​IMG]

    Hi, hope you had a great time in Crete. Our favourite Med Island! A second vote for sea anemones waiting for the tide. We get a lot of them in the rock pools round the Isle of Purbeck. Different species but the same appearance. [​IMG]

    [​IMG] Thanks folks,I will go with anemones,cant quite see the tentacles......... but i think they are resting waiting for the next tide.

    Growing in the hotel grounds Cycas Revoluta(Japanese Sago Palm)This I believe is the male of the species............but LoL couldn't grow it in our garden....just seen yours.

    I understand from my brother's email ( who lives near Chania and rubbing it in) that it was/is very hot there. The pics have a 'hot' feel to them. you obviously had a good time. [​IMG]
