Went into work last week with some cherries I had bought from a farm I pass on the way home.
Anyway, a couple of my mates liked them and I offered to get them some that afternoon on the way home.

One asked how much they were, and he would bring the money in tomorrow:scratch:
I mean, we are only talking £3.
    The other one didn't ask;)

So I got three punnets and took them in the next day, the bloke that asked the price had obviously raided his piggy bank and come up with the money:biggrin:

The other one didn't even ask, just said thanks.

Now is it me, or are there some strange people out there, one has to make an effort to come up with three one pound coins, and the other thinks I just bought them for him?

Anyone out there that doesn't even carry just a little bit of cash with them when they go out?
I've worked with others that couldn't even come up with £1 for the lottery syndicate I was in, saying, I'll bring the money in tomorrow:sad:

The world has gone stupid, I'd never leave the house without at least a few quid.

Hi Pete, you've reminded me of an incident in my local Wilkinsons ( over the road from the college ) the
        other week......

A queue was forming ( as usual only 1 cashier on ) and everyone was wondering why. It turns out we were waiting for a group of 5 students to go through each buying a pkt of crisps on their bliddy credit cards .
Well, me being me I asked why they weren't like shops and had a £5 limit to which the cashier replied " the manager won't do that as we'd lose all the student trade ".

Then a woman behind me said that if they valued the sale from a pkt of crisps etc over serious sales she'd go elsewhere and dumped about £50 worth of goods on the next till and walked out. Then another two walked out when she carried on serving them. Why couldn't she have asked them to pool their purchases or something ? Anyways, when it came to my turn she started moaning as she was scanning my items, so I just said " well you can put mine back on the shelves as well " and I walked out as well.

The clerk is not responsible for management's policies so why take it out on them? Wouldn't it be better to write the owner of the store later with your complaints and if they do not respond, then don't go there again?

Me, I usually end up chatting with fellow customers when waiting in line to cash out. Have had some fun conversations this way. :)

Oh, as to the original question - yes, I do carry cash. And as to the fellow who did not compensate you for the cherries, unless you are feeling generous, don't offer again.

Yes I agree with you Lori but they have a policy that if there are more than three people waiting she's supposed to buzz for another cashier.

And, no, waiting is not an option when you need a knee operation and two hip replacements.

No, thats perfectly normal, happens all the time.

Simple answer, never Sell things like that, partic things like home grow toms, fruit etc, you just waste your time and get more frustrated.

Just give them a few for free when you have excess, making out you are doing them a favour or don't bother at all.

Sorry to hear of your health issues.
Nonetheless, she was scanning your items so you were being served - which does suggest that you had stopped the "waiting" part of the process? :dunno:

As for the other customers who walked out - their logic did make me chuckle :heehee:
So, the question begs to be asked: would she have stayed if those 5 "student" customers EACH had a basket of goods to the value of £50? :noidea: That would have made the wait at least 5 times longer! :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

:loll: Did they expect her to *stop* serving them then? That is her job! :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

I think the heat is getting to some people :heehee: I feel for the poor cashier who had to deal with it all. It's prime holiday season, there's a good chance she couldn't ring for another till to open if there wasn't staff available to man another till and she was simply ... doing her job. Hope she went home to a lovely glass of something reviving - sounds like she had quite a day of it! :heehee:

Hope you don't have to wait too long for your ops; sounds painful!

Must admit I have walked out of Morrisons on a couple of occasions when going there after work for maybe a few items, but have to wait in a queue of people with trolleys loaded up to the top with a months shopping, or worse still, those that shop for about two other people, so you think there is only one person in front of you, but you find they go through the paying process three times.
After work the old back aches and the knees grind, so sometimes it just makes you shove the stuff you have just spent a couple of minutes picking up and go, bearing in mind it will take two minutes to find what you want and 15 to get out the store.

Patients is something I might have on a Saturday or Sunday ;)
I wasn't selling anything, I went out of my way to buy them on my way home for them.

@pete there are lots of people out there who just love it when they're offered something and they figure they get it free. At least the other fellow asked how much and did cough it up. :)

Someone once asked me to pick up low dose aspirin for them. Out of the blue- I'm not in the biz and I rarely go to the drug store. So I did, and they just grabbed them and said thanks. No money changed hands  But the worst ones, I mean the very worst ones are those that decide to chip in their share and use nothing but small denomination coins to pay up!:yikes:
