    Hi all
    Got very old apple tree and the bark has started to peel, is this just old age :help: or something causing this :(

    Looks like your tree has canker , which is a fungal disease.

    Some varieties are realy effected ie Bramley apple .

    The new varieties are a better choice to plant

    You are meant to cut out the infected branches, but with older trees like yours you probably woudnt have much tree left its amazing how they will carry on producing fruit which is still edible , their have been so many fungicides taken off the market so what to spray I havnt a clue , any branches you cut out need to be burnt if possible

    Newton wonder is a good cooker that shows good resistance that I can personaly voutch for
