OMG.....the pilot looked out the sides???? No thanks, give me a plane with a lovely reclining seat and a windscreen big enough for the pilot to use ALL his vision!

With the success of their earlier designs Focke and Wulf formed the Focke Wulf company in 1924and their first design was an all-wood three/four passenger airliner or light transport the A.16. First flown by Georg Wulf on 23 June 1924 at least 20 aircraft were built.
The A.16 was a high-wing monoplane of conventional configuration. The wing used a thick airfoil. The pilots sat in an open cockpit above the wing while the passengers were carried in the enclosed fuselage below. The tailskid undercarriage featured large wheels mounted on each side of the fuselage.
Not sure which variant it is but I`m guessing the A16.

Capney - thanks for the ID. Yes, it is a wonder how it even managed to get into the air, it looks so clunky - and just look at those wheels. :lollol::lollol:

The passangers must have been very brave and trusting back in those days. I wonder if they had parachutes, just in case...........

 

Well, that would give you a fright if you were going to the airport for the first time ... assume that's not what you flew back on from the UK, Sis .... :hehe:

What if the pilot had poor peripheral vision ....s00k .... in saying that, the plane is still in existence. :skp:

Sis, that would definitely put a first-time flyer off for ever. No, we came back on a more modern plane belonging to the Irish man. We had a problem with the ears popping most of the trip, don't know why that was, and the landing was rough. Still, I guess better than it would have been in this DIY one with the bicycle wheels. :D
