For weeks I've been working on my new patio in my limited spare time.

This evening, I used the last of my sand when mixing yet another batch of mortar. No sand left now. Got enough mortar to stick down the last few stones, except one.

How frustrating. I could have the job finished by tea time today. I wouldn't mind if I was quite a bit short, but to be short by just one stone's worth... well someone is taking the micky.

A trip to B&Q this morning solved the problem. As at about lunch time today, the patio is now complete. All that remains to be done is for me to dress it up a bit, filling in some of the gaps between stones, and sorting out the outermost retaining 'wall' so that it no longer just looks like a row of breeze blocks (which is exactly what it is).

I'll take some pics when I next get out there during daylight hours, and then again when it's sort of finished. I say 'sort of' finished, because my projects never actually finish, because I get them how I thought I wanted them, and then change my mind and start altering things:)

You sound as though you work a bit like me, Clueless. I get an idea of a project in my head, start it and it finishes up different to the original idea in my mind, but perhaps that's the best way as the finished project seems to be better than the original.:D

I'm in the same 'boat' today!

Just ten minutes away from finishing making a pair of curtains, my dear old sewing machine (built in 1953) decided it was time to stop. The drive belt snapped!

The modern portable machine my mother gave me a couple of years ago (I keep as a spare) decided not to work at all. Which is why I've held on to my old one, it's not so temperamental. :wallbang:

So, tomorrow I have a forty mile round trip to pick up a new belt or three for spares!
