    Would you believe it!
Just as the steak pie was nearly cooked the OH observed sparks from the back of our fan oven..why do these things happen near or at christmas ??
Because we have had a bad history of ovens over the years we took out a five year deal that covers everything.
It is now into its forth year.
It will be interesting to see how they peform tomorrow when I give them a ring..
Oh yes.. the steak pie and parsnips were yummy.

Bad luck, but that's sod's law.

So only another two things to go wrong before Christmas?

There seems to be such a disparity in the production quality of cookers.

We had a "top of the range" Stoves fitted oven in a new kitchen four years ago. It had two replacement timers and a door seal in a year. It never heated evenly. The roof was impossible to clean because the elements were in the way. The "help line" suggested using a naffin' toothbrush!
So at the beginning of this year I binned it and bought a Baumatic for £200 less. (There were some good on-line bargains in January).
It has a removable roof and stay-clean sides. The build quality is far superior and it's been brilliant.
It's certainly given me a "quieter life."

We've had a "washing machine/tumble dryer/dishwasher/oven man." for quite some time.

My wife knitted his new baby daughter a jumper, she's married with three kids of her own now.
