I planted Bandit F1 hybrid leeks last March and, despite their description, I do not find them "outstanding" with an "excellent garden performance". In fact, they are rather skinny and pathetic. I have some in one of my veggy plots and some in pots, but there is no difference in performance. I added fertiliser to the ground and pots before transplanting the seedlings, which were originally sown in 3" pots in the greenhouse.

Any ideas of what I might have done wrong, or how I might improve their performance in future?

    Thanks

Not sure what might have gone wrong Tiarella. Mine have been OK this year, I grew Musleburgh and Carlton F1. It was very dry here so I had to water mine a few times over the late summer time, did your's dry out maybe?

Something killed most of mine, turned them to slime, but a few picked up again. Won't win any shows though.

Do they look a bit like an over-grown spring onion, i.e. anorexic for a leek, but otherwise healthy? They might fatten up as Spring approaches, but if not you can eat them as baby leeks. Cost you a fortune in M&S, them would.

I like the idea of anorexic leeks :loll: and they do look a bit like that! When using for a meal, I need 3 or 4 at a time.

Maybe it was too dry for them (as suggested by JWK above) - quite likely the reason, come to think of it.
