    Hi everyone,

I am new to growing veggies - this is my first attempt! My first batch of pea plants produced some pods (not a huge amount though) but the plants are now going white. Is this normal and does it just mean they've done their job? Or is it some sort of disease? I think we planted everything a bit late as I've noticed some of the newer pea plants are also developing large white areas, even though they haven't got any pods on them yet.

    Thanks!

Sounds like mould (Powdery mildew). Lots of crops start suffering from that at this time of the year, so if your crop is pretty much done probably easiest to cut your losses. Otherwise spray it with a suitable fungicide - Sulphur perhaps?

It means they have done their job. You have to keep picking the pods to encourage them to produce more, but eventually they will die off around this time of year naturally.
