    Hi all

As I promised in another thread, I'd be creating a thread in the ID area with some nice pics of flowers for you all to have a go at identifying, here is that thread.

All these pics were taken in the outdoor section of the Eden project, Cornwall, a week or so ago. Here goes:

    1. These first 2 pics are the same plant, one pic to give you some idea of the growth habit, and another for a close up of the flowers.

    Growth habit....

    Flowers close up....

The leaves tell me its holly but I've never seen flowers like that on holly.

2.Some red hot pokers, except they're not red or orange...

    3. A mass of orange things (two pics, growth habit first then close up)

Well identified Aesculus :gnthb: . Whilst I have seen pictures before, I could never have put a name to Desfontainia spinosa - though you can see why its a spinosa. :D

My sister has Alstroemeria aurantiaca on sandy soil in Devon. She says it is horrendously invasive. But I can't grow it up here on my clay!

I have never grown Eremurus. What's the difference between bungei and robustus ?
