    hi i'm new here.

just wondering how deep and invasive pine roots can be (spread of roots would also be helpful) i want to plant a pine (Pinus sylvestris 'Fastigiata') in my front garden, but i know for a fact there is a gas pipe in the garden. i don't know how deep the gas pipe is, or what else is under there, as i've not yet done a cat scan

any help or advice is appreciated, thanks

    Welcome to Gardeners Corner Fridgey.

The Leylandii next door had broken into my sewer & the structural engineer made us underpin 2.5 metres to prevent the roots getting under the house.

Hi Fridgey and welcome to GC.

I'll follow up Ziggy's post with these two.......

Check out two threads of mine in General Garden Discussion......Leylandii Thug! on 18th August 2011 and Leylandii Gone! on 5th September 2011. I think these will tell you a lot! :)
