This has been in the garden for a couple of years and is trying to take over. Not sure if it's a weed or plant, but it's out of control! Very pretty, but it's dominating the other plants.

Can anyone help me with what it is? And any advice on it?

    Thanks.

It's a geranium, the perennial sort, not to be confused with the pot plant type. Someone else will tell us the exact type. Those pink ones spread quickly and get straggly at this time of year.

When you get fed up with it, or the flowers are finished, cut it right back until all that is left is stalks about an inch high.

Sounds drastic, I know, but you won't kill it, it will bounce back with a nice neat crop of leaves, especially in this damp warm weather. It will look much tidier, all the other plants nearby will have room to develop or you could put some bedding plants into the space it leaves.
