I was scanning some old pics today and came across these amongst others.
These were taken back in 84 when it was still 35mm film and all that hassle, plus my camera wasn't that good.
A couple of well known ones, bad pics but easy to recognise.
Anyone got any real good shots.

I love pictures of car parks Pete, really does give an indication of when the photo was taken (usually). Notice the A reg Sierra, which would have been 'new' (or at least within about 6 months new) at the time.

I can't find my Vulcan pics but thought this one was worthy to post ... taken on Teceira island, A§ores in April 1993.

Sorry it's a bit blurry but I really wasn't standing that close to it so have cropped. [IMG]

Dont seem to have many plane spotters on GC do we.
Walnut your right on No 1, its the old Lanc. of the RAF memorial flight.
No 2&3, is something special, (not that the Lanc isn't), its an SR71 Blackbird, one of the fastest production aircraft ever built.
Very rearely seen in the UK, and now I think s****ped.
As I remember it crossed from New York to London in something like 1hr 55mins in that year and probably still holds the record.
The second pic, (I wish it was better) shows it taking off from Mildenhall with only one engine on afterburner, the flame out the back was incredable as was the noise.
I must start going to airshows again, but since the "cold war" ended they are not the same.

Nice place for plants I understand, the Azores, LoL, looks good for plane spotting as well.

Webmaster, did you also spot the cortina with the vinyl roof. :D

Yes, pete, the A§ores are truly beautiful islands. It's a shame I wasn't into indigenous species as I am now ... GC has a lot to answer for.

I have pictures of the few roads (on Faial island about five) hedged with giant Fucshias. We were there April/May for only 8 days but were told we should be there in June when the lanes are lined blue with the Hydrangeas ... Faial is called the "blue island".

Beautiful place, beautiful people ... Portuguese, of course. [IMG]

As far as aircraft, we flew from Heathrow to Lisbon to the Islands. The plane had to stop at Teceira island (one of nine islands) before going on to Faial. It was just so spooky that the only other plane at the airport was an AWACS ... You have to get out of the plane for a half hour there and that's when I took the photo ... never seen one before, nor since. [IMG]

Re your carpark ... I had a vinyl roof on my Ford Pinto (like a Capri) in the States ... [IMG]

These beauties lived about 10-15 minutes up the road from us in Huntsville, Alabama.

Sorry, pete for hi-jacking your thread with rockets. :D

    I was closer than you were ... nana-nana-nanah! :D

I always wonder how the Sea Kings keep up in the sky with those flimsy-looking blades. Chinooks are my favourites ... in Bucks we were between quite a few of the airfields, Halton being pretty nearby ... and we used to have Chinooks coming over frequently, often in pairs or trios ... I loved the sound ... nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh, real throaty as they were low ... great stuff. Never been in one but always fancied a remote-control one ... now there's a thought for my big BD pressie coming up! :D [IMG]

I live pretty near the police headquarters, we quite often have the odd chinook rattling around the area.
Not worked out what the police have got to do with it but they seem to land there.

Woo, you need a good zoom, one reason why I never managed to get any decent shots years ago.
Surely you have one for your wildlife pics.

I agree Woo, its not easy, and you have to react fast.
This photography lark is not as simple as it first seems, the more you find out the more you realise there is to learn.

There goes the peace and quiet of the orchards then LoL :D
