plant that looks like nettle

    hello,can anyone ID this purple flowering plant that looks like nettle for me please?i know its not nettle cos i bought the plant a couple of yrs ago,it grows to about 3ft and maybe 2ft spread and i have to tie it in alot or it just falls over onto ground. [​IMG]

    Looks like dead nettle, lamium purpureum. It's part of the mint family. [​IMG]

    thanks Liz.thats just about my stamp.oh well,i still think its bonny so will just have to try and get over the fact that i paid good money for a NETTLE :confused:

    Does it smell? It might be catmint if you bought it, sorry I missed that bit. I think it's pretty anway.

    I thought cat mint, I've got some and it spills out over the edge of the border. The leaves look the same too.

    Rub a leaf between you fingers and see what it smells like?

    Oh, good! I've been trying to get mine as big as that since I came here. As soon as the cats find it they lie on it and kill it.
    I've got some in a pot now to try and let it grow big enough to withstand the loving onslaughts!

    Mine is a bit squashed also but hey the cats love it.
