We left our citrus bushes out over winter, the lemon took it in its stride but the orange didn't......... Yesterday, when I went down to extract the "dead" orange from its pot, I found lots of new growth coming from the main stem, plants are tougher than we think?

Here you will often find lemon tees planted around the orange groves ... the lemon trees will protect the orange trees from frost.

Also you will see roses planted next to the pump houses, often at the roadside edge. If there are diseases about the roses will get it first so action can be taken against the fruit trees.

If it was a grafted plant the new growth might well be Poncirus trifoliata.

Its a totally hardy rootstock that a lot of citrus are grafted onto.

        A picture would help.
