    Hi,

Attached are three photos of a cutting my nan gave me from a plant in her garden about six months ago. I cant figure this one out alone. The leaves are lanceolate with serrated margins. Leaf arrangement is opposite. Flowers are a pale lilac, tubular? (Four-lipped). Fruit is a small red berry when ripe. Ive tried hard to ID this with no luck.

A very warm welcome to the forums!

    A suggestion is Weigela sp.
One such as Weigela florida minor black has leaves that look right... however flowers are too dark.
A good close up pic of the inside of the flower would be very helpful.

There are lots of different Weigela.. maybe...Weigela florida foliis purpureis?

Would Weigila candida fit the bill?

    Thanks for the replies.

Not convinced it is a Weigela, though it may be. The leaves are less ovate with prominent, alternate venation, and conspicuous red berries develop after pollination which does not match with Weigela from my understanding. If I had a macro lens I could provide a better shot of the flower and it doesnt help that this is the only flower on this particular cutting.

There's a Penstemon called 'Dark Towers' ....leaves are right but flowers more lilac than white. I would have said it's Penstemon or Lobelia, though.

    Thanks.

Penstemon is a very good guess and I cant rule it out but im not totally convinced either. I dont think it's the dark towers cultivar but it may well be another within the genus. I need to do a bit more research. I want that clinching feeling.

Rather reminds me of a white Wandering Jew ... but I don't think that is correct as the flower is not right ...
