    Not sure, but i think it could be Viburnum beetle larvae damage if it's a Viburnum hegde
    But not sure from the picture DSCF5664.JPG
    This is a picture of the larve on the underside of the leaves

      Hi FT welcome to GC.. I think I agree with Jiffy, it will be very smelly when wet as well I in my experience too..

        Two years ago viburnum beetle was listed as one of the biggest pests in the garden. I don't know if it's still a big nuisance but you can easily get a bug spray for it. It recovers pretty quickly. :blue thumb:

        OK will start checking for them. Is there a time when they are more prevalent?

        Spring time is when the larve are doing the most damage March through to May, then the larve turns into the adults and then starts laying eggs in the woody stems ready for next year, more info here, hope this helps
