Five years age I was given a cutting off a vine and I planted it in a tub next to the back door It has slowly grown up the wall and looks quite nice, but this year it has flowers on it and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what it is.

    Thanks Alec

Hi jjdaddy and welcome. It looks very like cherry blossom, but could also be quince - Chaenomeles speciosa.
Someone will probably be along soon to put me right.

My first thought was Chaenomeles, but the more I look at it, the more I lean towards Blackthorn`s suggestion of flowering cherry.

It`s not strange at all, it`s just growing as a wall shrub. As it gets older its habit will change.:thumb:
