I would like to know what type of tree this is, Its looks like a kind of pine, it has bright green leaves to the tips of its branches like its new growth where further down the branch its a lot darker, its looks like a christmas tree (not sure what christmas trees are) it grows pretty much straight up and these picture show about 6 feet examples, there were no cones on these trees but there was some on bigger ones but only small ones.

Can these be planted in large pots and are the roots invasive and risky to plant near houses?

Pinus sylvestris seems about right.. the Scots pine often has a slightly greyish look to it.
