Plum tree ailment

    I am posting this on behalf of someone who intends to join GC at some point shortly, but currently are busy.

    They have a plum tree which appears to have some sort of fungal infection - question is what sort? And then the next question is how to treat it?

    Got a feeling if its the white bits on the bark?
    It might be some kind of scale insect.

      Yes, I believe that is the main symptom. How would that be treated @pete?

      Not something I've ever treated, but seen it on street trees, lets have a look what the RHS suggests.

        The leaves look pretty much covered in sooty mould which is another sign of scale or at least aphids

        Looks sensible to me - the Vitax Winter Tree Wash looks to be a reasonable shot too. I will pass it on. Thanks @pete

        Winter wash, next winter once the leaves have dropped, but they could try other insecticides now, or once the crawler stage starts.
