I purchased a dwarf pot grown plum tree last october. It appears to be bleeding! Any ideas?

Sounds like the bark has been damaged in some way and as the sap is rising now in spring it is leaking out. If it does not seal itself then carefully scrape awy the 'gum' without damaging the bark and paint the area with a wound sealant such as the one sold by Arbex(I think). Orwrap the area with sellotape until the wound does heal over and then remove it!
