    Hello,
My first post here and I am asking for help!

I have a palm tree in my garden that is looking rather sickly. I'm afraid I don't know what kind it is, it was in the garden when I moved in and I haven't thought about trying to identify it (until now!).

I have read about frost damage and though it could be that so was waiting it out. But today I had a closer look and saw the tree bark is damaged - by my neighbour's cat using it as a scratching post, I think!

    Any advice appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Jonathan

Thank you pete, and thanks for the helpful information you posted on the other thread.

I've trimmed the soft branches back and protected the trunk with some mesh to stop the cats causing further damage. Now I'll just have to wait and hope we get a good summer for it!
