Potatos

    Potatos i intend putting some in tubs this w/end because i dont have anywhere in the ground to put them i have people on the forum have stated about cutting them in half first (what is the reason for this) and can one also put them in whole ??

    The theory behind cutting them in half was that you get double the amount of seed from your bag of seed potatos. BOGOF! Each half grows into a new potato plant

    The last thing I read about it was that you are better leaving them whole as the crop from one uncut tattie was greater than from two halves.

    I'd just stick them in whole.

    some people have bought their potatoes from a supermarket and may feel they are quite large, and if the number of little sprouts is over, say a dozen, they mite cut em in half, and leave to dry off be4 planting
    I buy mine as proper "seed potatoes" from a garden centre, they tend to be smaller than one usually buys and i would nt cut them
