My purple broccoli is about 2.5 feet tall and the winter cabbages are doing very well. Is there anything I ought to be doing to protect them against the very cold weather this last few days? :cnfs:

Brassicas are as tough a old boots so, personally, I would leave them be. I would net them to keep the pesky Pigeons off them though ... (I use Scaffolder's Debris Neting as its cheaper than "Horticultural" netting and lasts well.

    Hi Sterile,

The bababge family are very hardy usually, but if you can get some protection over them then it wouldn't hurt. Some fleece weighted down at the eges to keep the worst of the snow off maybe, but I wouldn't get too worried, they are quite hardy :thmb:

As Kristen says the cold won't harm them, it may in fact help them last a little longer by halting growth.
