quetzacoatl feather...

    I have attended a typical Mexican dance recently and I have asked the person next to me what feathers were the dancers wearing in a fan shape on their head.
    She said they were recreations of quetzacoatl feathers, the mytical deity of Central America.

    (you can see them also on samba dancers, although the mexican costumes were totally different). Now: I have tried to look for one for evidence but I JUST CANNOT FIND ANY picture other than statues, painting etc...

    I am not revealing the colour at this stage to see if you can come up with it from your search.

    Are they green from the Resplendent long-tailed Quetzal bird that lives in the mountainous, tropical forests of Central America?

    they are painted in dark color and red as the quetzacoatl is just a mitological animal and dasn`t really exist
