Sorry to bump this up to the main part of The Forum, but due to the sudden demise of both vehicles & buying 2 new ones off a Gardeners Corner member(You know who you are and you've been a lifesaver:thumbsup:)

I now need to get some work in to pay for the cars ASAP.

I am now willing to travel & stay away in any part of the UK. My main skills are traditional repairs & re building to any form of Historic Buildings. I have worked on 30+ Churches, 2 Castles, 1 Historic Royal Palace, several Scheduled Ancient Monuments and the Roman City of Aphrodisias in Turkey.

The only aspects of Historic Buildings I do not cover are Thatching, Electrics & Gas Works.

P.S. Sorry for the bad website, but i'm not a website builder, i'm a builder.

I have £2 million liability insurance, I can provide as many references as you want, from Architects to the Arch Deacon of Taunton.

To clarify what I do a bit more,

Lime mortar plastering/render, stone masonry, mortar repairs to stone work, lath & plaster repairs, reed & plaster/wattle & daub.Timber frame repairs, lime ash flooring, repairs to decorative plaster ceilings, lime pointing, lime washing, cob building/repairs.

Basically, if its an Historic Building then I have probably done it.

A full list of certificates are available on request, including CITB health & Safety site management and Natural England Ecological site Management certificates, which means if i'm doing any work on your property, I will manage any growing trees/plants accordingly.

Saying all that, i'm not proud, not afraid to do any other sort of work, and have done. Needs must when the devil vomits in your kettle.

Other work I have have done includes gardening at the College of Law, looking after 23 Acres, mowing, bedding Etc.

You are welcome to inspect as much of my work that the clients will allow and if not,I could give a detailed map reference to many public buildings & monuments throughout the south of England.

Sorry to put up such a tart pimp for work & i'm sure our lovely mods will have removed it by the morning but I just hate sitting at home knowing I could be out there working.

    Cheers for reading

    Ziggy.

I can't help with your work predicament, but if you like I can take a look at your website and maybe give some tips, if you post a link. Software development is my thing, and website development is how I earn my living (I'm not asking you to give me some work, but I might be able to give some tips).

I'm sorry to hear that times are tough for you, Zig:-/.......dont lose faith, somthing will come along.

Some of the places that you've done work for in the past, can you approach them again, so see if there is anything coming down the pipe, so to speak.

    Cheers guys
Will keep nose to the grindstone. You never know where the next job is going to come from, thats why i'm asking here, just in case.

Going to run some ads in the local papers too. Met up with an architect that i've worked for previously so he & his practice know i'm looking. But like Marley said, people are just making do & mending at the moment. Mind you, its also the quiet time of year, spring usually brings too much work at once.

    Hi Clueless,

Cheers for that, the link is in my signature.

Hi Zig, work is scarce for everyone at the mo so you're not alone! Just a thought - can you go to the Channel 4 website and register your skills there? I know programmes such as Grand Designs feature the skills you use so maybe they also link to professional suppliers or those seeking them?

Construction is bad full stop now Zig, whether preservation, renovation or new build.. OH is in it & as near retirement age has not worked in 2 yrs properly....!!!

Chin up mate & put yourself about... Anywhere & everywhere.. Internet, papers, local noticeboards.. You have superb skills, but I know it is finding the work... You are trying hard so I am sure something will come along soon... Thinking of ya... M,

I might also add you have no need to apologise for the website. While you have the time however, I'd recommend investing some of it in the available templates that Google has to promote yourself more. It looks as though you have already used google sites to create what you have so should be a simple process; make use of Clueless1's offer!!

    Cheers Guys,

Have been following Clueless's advice but, not being used to this sort of stuff am still failing to post a pic directly on the site. God I miss photo copiers, prit stick & typex.

Will have a look at that channel 4 thing in a minute.

Also how about trawling through your local on-line council planning permission applications, you can write to suitable ones offering your services - many of them wo';t have picked a builder at the planning stage.

Also advertise in local parish magazine, it's going to be cheap and will get read - we do with ours and use it to find local tradesmen.
