We have a fridge freezer in our garage and the other week the temperature guage was showing ERR in the box on the front at the top.We emptied it and turned the fridge part off.Yesterday we turned it back on ready for an engineer from Bosch coming to look at it tomorrow.

The temperature now is reading as follows...

The one on the left is for the freezer underneath and the right one is the fridge part.
We have put a thermometer inside the fridge and that is now reading 0c the same as on the front.Does that mean it is now ok to fill back up with vegetables and fruit etc..

We can't remember what the temeperature of refridgerators are supposed to be.If this temperature is correct then we can cancel the engineer.Sorry for any spelling moistakes but my head has gone awol today.

    Thanks in anticipation [IMG]

Looks a bit low to me Kandy. I'd have your thermostat checked. 0 deg celsius is freezing point of water. Fridges shouldn't freeze water.

    Hi Kandy. That looks fine.

You should be able to alter the temperature in the fridge part. I have looked on a Government Health site and they recommend +5C for a fridge. OC is too low - you start to get ice particles in milk etc. The freezer part should be -18C or below.

If an external thermomiter confirms that the temperature is that low in the fridge, you can certainly put food in it. I don't see that you need an engineer - but just monitor it.

When computers hang, you can usually cure them by turning off and then on again. I had a car with an engine management chip, and it started to do funny things. I was told to just disconnect the battery and then reconnect - it worked. I suspect fridges with chips are the same.

    Hi Kandy,
Bosch normally recommend that their freezers should be around -19 and their fridges between +2 and +4.

The problem with having a fridge/freezer in the garage is that in the winter the ambient temperature in the garage can be too low for the machine's thermostats to work properly because the temperature around it is too close to the temperature it wants to keep the inside at. This can cause it to keep cutting in and out and get hung up. I think that Bosch machines are able to cope OK with this but am not sure.

Also it depends on the structure of your garage but if it gets too hot in the summer you may be overworking the machine as they make different models to suit different countrys' climates.

As it seems to be working OK at the moment I would be inclined to cancel the engineer for now - as long as you set the fridge temperature above zero.

Shiney is spot on with that post Kandy, you will have problems if the ambient temp falls to near freezing or below.

Hi everyone.Mr Kandy has checked the thermometer we put in the fridge when he got home last night and it had gone up to +2.

The fridgefreezer was only 18 months old when we moved house and the couple who bought our bungalow didn't want it so because the builders had fitted a small fridefreezer in one of those cupboard units we put it in the garage becasue there was no room for it else where. The kitchen freezer is a piddling little thing so we use the freezer on the bosch one as well as the kitchen one.We use the fridge part as an overflow for when we get stocked up with fruit and veg etc.

The fridgefreezer is at the back right hand part of the garage which gets the sun on it's left side when the sun shines on it in the afternoon and evening in the summer months. As the freezer is one of those frost free ones then we don't have to worry about defrosting it.

There are no controls for the temperature inside the fridge, only at the top where it is showing 00.in the manual Bosch reccomends that the freezer is set to -18C which is ok.

We have just been out to the garage to check it and the reading is now +2 so Mr Kandy is now going to ring and cancelthe engineer.

Many thanks to you guys for helping us,much appreciated [IMG]
