Ok, so I've moved as many of you will know.

Now, don't ban me but ... there were a lot of overgrown shrubs (and shrub roses  ) that were stripped/dug out and disposed of. All that remains of the original planting is an evergreen shrub and ... one rose (which endured being chopped within an inch of its life!).

That rose rewarded me this past week with a glorious bloom (and some promising buds!).

Unfortunately, last nights wind and todays torrential rain has totally stripped the bloom I wanted an ID on

So, hopefully, my written description will give some clues (until or unless the other buds manage to bloom).

The one stem I did not cut is approx. 5' tall. A couple of new stems have grown to approximately 4' in the past 6 weeks each with one solitary bud at the top.

When the bud of the one which bloomed was developing it was a yellow colour (not as pale as butter, not as rich as buttercup, more erring on lemon) with a reddish tinge on the outer petal. The reddish tinge disappeared as the bloom unfurled.

When it was fully opened, I smelled it: lo and behold, it actually had a lemony scent! Very delicate, not full on. I noticed the stamens were red!

The full bloom only lasted a couple of days (granted the weather hasn't helped).

Seems to be reasonably disease resistant (no mould or anything on it) as this garden and all within it has been totally and sadly neglected for goodness knows how long!

Not a lot to go on, I know. But, if anyone could point me in the right direction with this?
I don't know if it might be a hybrid tea/shrub/fluke of nature :noidea:

It may even be the *only* plant that remains as an "original" for this property from when I arrived, so I'm hoping it's a good 'un :heehee:

It does sound like a tea rose "M" with the single blooms on a stem. Anyway, below is my 'Lincolnshire Yellow Belly'.....how I hate that name! It sounds close to what you're describing but this is a Floribunda. Is it any help? :)

Cor, that's a beauty, Sheal!

Not sure mine is a Lincolnshire Yellow Belly ... yours has retained the pinkish/red tinge on the outer petals whereas mine goes pure yellow when in full bloom.

Took this photo of a bud today ...

... when it opens fully, I'll take another picture and see if that will shed more light on things.

Thanks "M". Hmmmm, interesting about the colour disappearing on yours. Mine disappears on new flowers from about half way through the season.
