Is there any hope that things are going to get better now that Royal Mail has been sold?

I ordered a few bits and bobs at the start of the week (nothing big, just bulbs and stuff) and got notifications that they had all been dispatched by Tuesday - they still haven't arrived.

Worse still, I had some problems with my credit card company (changing of address turned into a bit of a fiasco) which left me worried that the replacement for my expired card had been sent to my old address; I called them yesterday, and they confirmed that the address change had been successful this time round, and that they had cancelled the card that was sent to my old address and that they had dispatched a new one to my current address - this was sent on the 24th!

Now, I know that second class post takes a bit longer (assuming that they have been sent second class) but 8 days for a letter to be delivered is extracting the urine.

I've found with replacement credit cards that 'dispatched' and 'sent' can mean something completely different to 'posted.

Three of my items arrived just before 5pm, so that is only two MIA now. That probably constitutes one of our two deliveries for the week, so it will be Tuesday before we see the rest.

I can't see how privatisation can help. It will just be a new bunch of bean counters trying to work out how to get the most profit for the least service.

Well, at that rate I will be paying them to allow me to go an collect my own mail from the sender. What really worries me is that I am within the M25 - hardly the Outer Hebrides!

I cannot, at the moment, complain about the postal deliveries as they are pretty good and the regular postman gets to know everyone and that cuts down any mis-deliveries. I only get the wrong mail on rare occasions usually when it's a new Postman when the regular one is off.
I don't like the way the Government has let other companies basically franchise the mail delivery who then hand back the physical delivery to the Royal Mail because they don't have the structure to do it themselves......where's the sense in that?

I doubt it. Nothing has never really gotten better since it's been privatised.Workers pay might increase. That's what happened to the OH's pay when his work was privatised.

I can see my details being sold on quite quickly to it's "partners" and receiving nothing but junk now.
