I am growing several Salvia Macrophylla from seeds. They seem to be doing quite well but I am unsure as to whether I should pinch them out or not? They are currently about 15 cm tall. If I should then how high up the stem - either in cm or in terms of how many leaves up please?

Hi @JPay , well done, they look nice healthy plants. If it was me I'd pinch out just above three pairs of leaves. Remember you can use the tips as cuttings and you'll get extra plants for free.

Thanks for that. Are you counting the seed leaves or just the true leaves? I will have to see if I can find any more space for cuttings - I've grown about 50 of them from seed!!

Just count the true leaves. The seed leaves will soon start to wither and die off - nothing to worry about.

Even at this early stage the leaves look the wrong shape for S.macrophylla. Could they actually be S.microphylla? If you are certain that they are definitely S.macrophylla let them grow a fair bit more before pinching some out and leave others. Either way, macro or micro, you're going to need a big space for 50 plants!
