Yes the breed was recognised in Spain around 2000, he is podengo cross english fox terrier, bred to control vermin in the wine and sherry cellars, the beed is supposed to have a black mask, not brown like milo's, and a pup without a black mask is discarded by the breeder, its how he ended up in the Spanish kill centre, rescued along with one of his siblings by a dog charity and bought to the UK, rehomed then dumped, returned to the dog charity, then we had him. A nice touch to the story, we found out his brother was rehomed approx 8 miles away, they now meet up now and again.

 

They're both lovely and doing well, I agree fern will be a trouble maker and teasel will be behind her when she's got her confidence.

Meet Tonto; named after the way he arrived here! He is not technically mine. They apparently had a moratorium on the island cats a while before I came BUT the farmer up the lane did not bother getting his tom fixed as he said there were no longer any open females here.... His tom is Tonto. Who arrived here behind Oliver! Oliver is a character who probably took pity on this starving neglected little cat and said, "Hey, you come on home with me! She will feed ANYONE!" So he did, several months ago ! Still here! And you never met a more devoted, grateful cat. I cannot walk outside without he is wrapped around my ankles. ie I cannot walk. Over the months this wee feral has become almost hand tame. I can stroke him, but not his head yet as he is scared of hands ( DON'T ASK!) He cries and purrs and food is his passion. Will never understand why farming folk think a well fed cat is a bad hunter. He was emaciated. Filled out nicely now. So yes I appropriated him! Not fixed and I have no way to effect that as his "owner" is the ferryman and the vet is over the water. He longs to be a house cat but....
