When I bought a new one the power cable socket was over the left hand side, the old one was on the right.
Due to where the socket is it meant the cable now comes in from an angle, had to buy a new power cable the other day as it has worn through due to the angle of it over time.

You buy a laptop and end up with yards of thick uncontrollable cable, bloody great transformer box in the cable length.
And a battery that last an hour at most.

Technology needs to improve greatly, its like something from the 70s.

My new work laptop is a whopper, the power unit on its own weighs 1 kg. And for some reason the kettle lead connector keeps working loose on it, so you think you're all plugged in and after working for an hour it starts warning you that the battery's about to run out.

They keep up grading, (down grading in respect of hard drive space), the computer part of the act but never do much regarding how the thing is powered, its archaic, I can buy a power tool with two batteries, one on charge and one being used, it would then become truly portable.
