Slow pages

The webmaster I would have thought. Sometimes posts about his allotment/polytunnel.
As far as I know Cloudflare are paid to host the site.

 

I get no trouble with any other sites, just Gardeners Corner. It's slow every day ... sometimes slow, sometimes very slow. Occasionally it works normally but it's usually slow.
So it isn't anything local or anything to do with service provider. Neither is there anything wrong with my laptops (I've got two and it's just as bad on both)
It never used to be like this so something has gone wrong somewhere.

 

Same here @Michael Hewett , no other sites are affected. I use a desktop and an ipad and it's the same on both.

 

It's just this site people are saying cloudflare and banking, my bank site is fine.
I can't think it's Internet suppliers as lots mentioning it, we are miles apart and on different suppliers.

 

It might be your bank doesn't use Cloudfare, @pete. Problems with it have been well documented in recent weeks with some big sites suffering outages that last hrs.

 

I'm not on many sites but i look at the coummunity alerts for our local area and that site is now starting to have slow pages as well,

Done a google ask AI and it says the coummunity alerts use cloudfare

 

Yes I realise that, but I'm sure if people were having trouble with banking it would be well known by now and sorted out.
I've seen nothing regarding it on the web, in recent times.

And as @NigelJ says, there are no issues with cloudflare.

 

I think it was something similar that happened to another garden site I used to look at, called 'Grows on You'. It had become very outdated and needed lots of work done to it, and it had become very slow like this site is now. Over time it got much worse until in the end it was almost impossible to use it, and the people who created it didn't have time to fix it, so it closed down.
It was a lovely site but probably wouldn't have been suitable for many on here because it didn't have any moany threads. It was just for gardening and nature.

 

I dont think we are trying to make a big issue, as such, out of this, obviously it still works, so no rush.
I think most of us thought it was something that would sort itself out with no real problem, or input from anyone.
Nice to know someone knows what they are doing.

 

Mine has been slower than slow these past two day to the point I have to come out of GC. This morning I had a message saying "waiting for Gardeners Corner".

Not moaning, just saying.. I am okay elsewhere.

 

Would a selective removal of old threads reduce the load on the site and improve the speed perhaps? There may be outdated information on some of these threads that is now irrelevant. I also wonder if many people use the search facility for old responses, they may prefer replies from active members.

 

I'm giving up with this site, it's slower than ever today :(

I haven't got time, so many other things to do and only me here to do them ... and Dewi's gone to sleep under the bed
but as you can see I'm still here, although I do feel like giving up.
