Great pic, Marley, but glad that I am not there! Is that the post box or a bird house on the right?

I obviously missed your slide show [IMG] - where is it please?

:D Yes Pal their roof is solid alright..! [IMG]

[IMG] Well I just heard from my friend & they have 20' of snow at the moment..!!! :D Oh & yes & Woo, they are living in there. Before the snows come they erect a corrugated tunnel around the doorway so that stay clear & they can dig the last bit out safely they can get in & out. Stan has also got this periscope affair thing he rigged up so he can see what the weather is doing at any time... Hence the photo [IMG]

Marley, that is just amazing ... 20 feet ... NO, THANK YOU! Of course, one could get up to all sorts of mischief indoors in front of a log fire. [IMG] :D :D :D

T'other half and I were trying to figure out what that periscope was ... we thought another chimney of sorts.

Sis has reminded me that we were there on 1 April 1956, about six weeks following our mother's death when we returned to the UK from Long Island, New York, for a visit to the family. The snow was NOT 20 foot deep at that time ... I don't think they would be landing planes even with ploughs trundling up and down the runways in such conditions.

I am happy just to look at a picture of it, I sure don't need to go and see it in real.

The tunnel sounds good. I was wondering about how they got out, and if they had to stay in all the time they were snow bound.

Great idea with the periscope! I was wondering about that too. Very inventive.
