Just come back from the local Hospice, and was surprised to find they have a "designated smoking area".
Nice to know some people do realise you cant just pretend it dont happen, like most of the NHS places seem to these days.
I dont smoke now, but when I did I really did enjoy it.
    So know how they feel.

I have always admired the Hospices for their non-judgemental attitudes and forgiving nature.

I recall a number of people who smoked until they drew their last breath!

I don't call it common sense, Pete: I call it compassionate.

Yep, agree that it's not nice for others to smoke indoors, as a smoker even I didn't like smoke filled pubs, but I draw the line at other folk telling me where I can't smoke outdoors.

Especially when they drive a car putting tons more smoke into the atmosphere than my cigarette ever could.

One of the last things my father in law said, as he lay dying in a hospital bed, was that he wanted a smoke. He was not allowed. He'd already been told there was nothing that could be done and it would all be over in a matter of hours or at most, days. So why on earth he was not allowed to be wheeled outside for a smoke is beyond me. What's the worst that could have happened? He could catch lung cancer to add to the cancer in his throat that was slowly choking him to death.

When my aunt was diagnosed with terminal cancer, the consultant told her to eat, drink and smoke all she wanted, and to do whatever she wanted to wherever possible, and enjoy the time she had left -

That is beyond belief, if i'm gonna die, i'd want folk to respect my last wishes or face a punch.

Indeed. And imagine just how much you'd suddenly fancy a smoke after the consultant had just been in and said words to the effect of "sorry, we've just had all the top brains around the table, and none of us can think of a way to save you, you're going to die, and soon".

It's an abuse of Human rights, cross reference to the smacking thread, no one has the right to make someone else suffer withdrawal
