Someone has offered me 80 spring bulbs ( mostly daffs but a few crocus and hyacinth ) They are in bags and have sprouted. If I plant them now will they take root and then flower next Spring? Or should I keep them in the bags n a dark place until Autumn before planting? The area I had in mind for these bulbs is going to be laid to turf once weather improves so I guess the bulbs should be planted first. Thanks in advance.

If they've sprouted best get them in asap, they'll go rotten if you leave them till autumn :yikes:

      Agreed.:dbgrtmb:

However, I was given a bag of bulbs just as above ... didn't plant them until last October and now, I'm seeing one or three little beauties coming up :hapfeet:

Mind you, to put that in context ... that's out of about 100

I agree with the others get them in asap! I bought a few packs of bulbs from our local farm shop (reduced to £1) they too had started to sprout, I hope I shall soon be seeing their little heads pop through the soil.
        Happy planting :hapydancsmil:

Hi M, I got pink tulips, orange tulips, green & white tulips, mixed coloured tulips, narcissi & daffodils :dbgrtmb:. i thought lots of colours dotted around would brighten up the garden for the spring :hapydancsmil:
