I would really like to upload a few photos but every time I've tried I've failed. Tonight the 'upload a file' button just won't respond, previously it said the photo was too big but I've no idea how to compress it. Any ideas?

I simply "drag and drop" from my pix folder into the reply box :noidea:

Ok, admittedly, sometimes it is has PMS (prehistoric man syndrome ;) ) and takes a couple of go's, but it works for me.

    Have you tried that?

How do I get both screens visible at the same time?

No. I was too mean to pay for it and so were my employers!

At the top right hand corner of your browser window, you should see three icons that look like the image below.

      reduce.png

If you click on the middle one, it should make the browser reduce in size to a small square with scroll bars on the right hand side and along the bottom. Move the scroll bars until you can see the reply box, and then open your pictures folder - if it opens up to a full window, the same icon should reduce it to a smaller size and let you put it side by side with your browser window.

          You minimise both first.

(Look at the top right of the window: you will see a " - " square icon, a "boxed square" icon and a "red X squared" icon. The grey boxed square icon can either minimise, or maximise, your screen size for that window. You can also drag the outside edges of the window you are looking at to resize it manually). So, effectively, you can resize your browsing window and then resize your picture folder window to they both take up half the overall screen, each. That way, it is easy to drag and drop.

          Does that make any sense?

To resize and edit your photos , try this free software FastStone
A photo from my camera is 5.5mb and about 4000 x 3000 pixels in size . Far too big to upload
I resize to 800 x 600 pixels , the file size then becomes about 350 kb and save this photo to my desktop for uploading

Thanks, everyone, I have finally managed to resize them so I can upload the photos. Wasn't half a hassle, though!

Madahhlia if you are using Windows 7 you can reduce the picture's size without using software from elsewhere. Double click on the preferred picture and in the drop down box click on edit. You should then see a re-size option top left on the toolbar.
