Did another trip over the channel to Boulogne yesterday and revisited the bistro which has a menu with a difference; flowery French descriptions of the dishes are semi-translated into characterful English. Some of you may remember the 'Salad of Crispy Of Goat' which we encountered on the previous trip. I thoroughly enjoyed my 'Salmon With Rust' last time, but, mindful of the need to immerse oneself in the local culture, I felt it was important to experiment a little more this time around. So I rounded off my 'Pie Of Fishermen' - the fisherfolk were surprisingly tender - with the magnificently named 'Brown Foam' (chocolate mousse).

Back home in Blighty today, and as we are on holiday this week, we thought a nostalgic trip to Ye Olde Worlde Tearoom was in order. Just down-to-earth grub and a no-nonsense menu! Yay! As we sat down at our table, our eyes were drawn to a small, handwritten notice nestling on a doily:-

Due to Brian's knee replacement, meringues are not on the menu. Sorry for any inconvenience.
