Unchained Melody! A real classic.

Can't agree with you about TT, Makka. I've been a customer of theirs for almost 4 years. It supplies me with free broadband, landline and calls for £9.99 a month each and free local, national and international calls 24/7. VAT is added to that, of course, plus calls to non-geographic numbers and mobiles. My average monthly bill is about £27-30. I spend a prodigious amount of time on the phone to the US as I train people as forum moderators and an awful lot of my students are American! All for free!

Tis true their call centres could use some improvement (India), the awful and LOUD rock music, but once you get through to technical assistance, they are helpfulness personified! Least that's always been my experience.

However, I have heard that new customers are having a different experience. Dominic Littlewood did a big number on them only a few days ago.

Sweetness and honey, with a sting in the tail!

    .

Wait until you ask for a MAC code! (which they now must provide!)

They threatened to disconnect me there and then when I asked for one, which I knew was illegal, when I said I would report them and I did report them, they backed down!

Then they said they did not have it to hand, and would send it, (they have five days to do so) and I had to chase them up again.

As I paid by direct debit, they took every month for three months a bill for various amounts, just over a £1 with no explanation, then some months later, they took five pence, honestly!

The reason I put up with them pilfering from my account was after consulting the Union solicitor, who advise me as it was only small amounts and that if I cancelled my direct debit to them, they would black mark my credit record and it is difficult to clear the black mark even though you are in the right and they are a hundred per cent in the wrong, and it would be cheaper and less harassing to wait and see and so it turned out so in the end!

And they are very quick to threaten to send in the bailiffs, which is also illegal, and can only be done with a court order!

They also said it was because of their integrating their business with Tiscali that which was causing them problems, which was damned all to do with me!

    .

And they have the worst complaints and customer dissatisfaction according to computeractive magazine!

    End of saga!

Ah the bit about the bailiffs was what Dominic Littlewood was dealing with. Horrid!

But I got a Mac code from them, no problem. Mind that was about a year ago or maybe more.
