Solved Tall tree (or large shrub) with blue flowers

Hi all.

I'm looking for a specimen small tree for a corner of my front garden (in Cambridgeshire). I saw this just last week in London, but I've no idea what it is. It's a pretty tree, and something that kind of height, spread and habit would be perfect.

The flowers look a bit like solanum, but I've not seen one like that before. Can anyone help track this down, please?

Thanks, Silver. I don't think that's it though.

Flowers are very similar, but online stuff says the blue potato plant tops out at 8ft, and this was up to the first floor window on an old high-ceilinged house so it must have been at least 12ft. Also the foliage was more willow-like, not the wider leaves that pictures of the blue potato plant have.

And it was just growing outside someone's house, over the pavement. No particular protection from frost, so even with the heat island of London, it would have been lucky to survive.

 

It's not the most in-focus picture I've ever taken, and 800x600 doesn't help either. Zooming in on the flowers and leaves a bit more...

 

The clearer the pics the easier to give accurate answers.
Try Solanum laciniatum.. common name Kangeroo apple.

Hardiness 2.....Will tolerate low temps but not being frozen!

Fruit yellow or orange, 23-30mm long. POISONOUS.
