    Thank you all for your warm welcomes and comments, must say you're a friendly bunch ;-)) I can see I'm going to really enjoy joining you on an evening, gaining experience and pinching ideas. I'm reading all the sticky threads tonight and learning to navigate your site. thanks for having me.

          Tayberries are a cross between a Blackberry and Raspberry and are yummy. They are called Tayberries presumably because they were created in the huge soft fruit growing region in Perthshire which has The River Tay flowing through it. I live close to the area and can vouch for the fact that the plant must be pretty hardy. I'd have thought you would be able to grow them @Sandy Ground altho we don't get quite as cold as you do!

            It appears that it is possible to grow them here. There are a couple of places that have them for sale. Directly translated, they are called "Bear Raspberries" here. That comes from the fact that blackberries are known as "Bear Berries."
