As you may have heard on the news (BBC finally reporting it this morning) we have had extensive flooding and heavy rain in the last few days here in Northern Europe. Nearly 3cm on Monday, 2 cm on Tuesday, and 0.7cm Wednesday and Thursday. The ground is totally waterlogged, even on higher ground, and we also have high northerly winds - unusual for this time of year.

I have some cherry trees, and a plum tree that is top-heavy, that need to be pruned for health/stability. I know we should wait until mid-summer, to minimise the risk of infection.

Would I be pruning too early, if I were to do this today?

I think if my memory serves me correctly i think stone fruit you prune after flowering i.e. cherry and plum, so mid summer is best like you say i think mid June is about the time for pruning but if they are heathy you should be ok pruning now.
