Having just watched the Penlee lifeboat tragedy I started to wonder.

If I had been on the union star as it headed for the rocks, would I have wanted/pleaded/prayed for the lifeboat to go beyond what they could do in the faint chance that they could save me. My answer - in fear yes, in my nice safe home no. As the RNLI are well aware - I don't envy them their job.

Anyone think that in the same situation, they would be different.

I've got to be honest fran. I think realistically, if i was in a position of fear and danger, i think i would grasp any help offered and probably end up being a real wingy pleader. But you're right in the safety of my lounge and chair i might shout to them to save themselves. I didn't see the program, but i remember reading about such an event somewhere.
