We saw this pretty little shrub in St Ives recently. Anyone have an idea what it could be, please?

Hi there Kedi, it is a Sambucus nigra Black Lace, the black elder. I have that and the golden version. Wonderful in leaf and flower.

Thanks Blackthorn. It is really beautiful.

Does the golden one just have golden flowers or golden or lighter leaves, too?

Your garden must be lovely with all of these wonderful shrubs.

Hi Kedi. The golden one has reddish young shoots maturing to golden leaves and creamy flowers. it is called S. racemosa 'Sutherland Gold'.

We are lucky to have a very large garden and I have 3 of these in different places plus the black one. There is a local nursery that supplies all of these wonderful shrubs for about £4.
I will get some pics of mine, when it stops raining and blowing a gale.

OOhh! another lovely and you are really lucky to be able to get them so cheap (a give-away price!) and grow them in your garden, Blackthorn. Although this one is pretty, the black one really took my fancy, it is so out of the ordinary.

Looking forward to seeing some of your pics when you manage to get out.

Hi Kedi, finally managed to get out. Pics aren't great as it's still blowing a gale here.
